Nothing is ever done

Nothing is ever done

Mas de Vézénobres is our home. It is in this green oasis that we decided many years ago to live, raise our children and practise our art. In this Cévennes valley, in this 17th century hamlet with its secret paths and corners, among caves, springs and a river, we have found a place where we can combine art and the art of living. We love the gentle pace of life in summer and the wild beauty of winter. We share this place with guests and artists, but also with nature. Sometimes we win over nature when we create new paths in the forest, but sometimes the bignonne wins over the roof or one of the springs decides to shut up for a while.

_______

The Mas de Vézénobres is both an artistic project and a family project, originally created by the engineer and patron of the arts Theodor Gentner. Paula and Paul have been working there ever since, often together, particularly on art installations. Their exchanges give rise to artistic projects in which Paula's precise vision gives meaning and form, while Paul contributes his technical expertise and his irreplaceable eye.

Since 2000, they have been sharing the site with friends, artists and holidaymakers, offering art and landart workshops.

PAULA ANKE

Paula loves giving Landart classes as much as cooking with products from the garden. And she's a favorite for her gluten-free pastries!

Born in Berlin, Paula studied in Berlin, Brussels and Perpignan. She is interested in the possibilities of reinterpreting the materials of memory. Her evolving installation Amazones de l'ombre (Shadow Amazons) addresses the theme of female power, and has recently been exhibited in various museums and art venues. Paula divides her time between Le Vigan and Berlin, where she is artistic director of the Alexander and Ranato Camaro Foundation.

PAUL DUC

You'll find Paul inside and outside the Mas looking after everyone's well-being.

Before turning to metalwork and iron design, Paul first developed a passion for architecture. For 20 years, he was assistant to Jeanne Gerardin, a pioneer of textile art. Since 1995, he has been working on the restoration and upkeep of the Mas de Vézénobres. He helped build the Alexander and Reanata Camaro Foundation in Berlin. His interior design work includes unique furniture and objects, and is characterised by both technical and artistic talent. His creations are as pure as they are humorous.
